Henry Lankenau was a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class in the United States Navy. He was trained at the Hospital Corps School, Fort Schuyler, Portsmouth, Virginia. He served at Naval hospitals in Portsmouth, Virginia, Great Lakes, Illinois, Newport, Rhode Island, Brooklyn and Lido Beach, New York. Lankenau was honorably discharged at Lido Beach, Long Island, New York in November of 1945 A 75 year resident of Leonia, Lankenau attended the Art Students League and Cooper Union in New York. From 1953 until 1982 he published and illustrated "CHEERS", a monthly magazine devoted to fine foods and fine dining. The archive has several issues of these brochures. |
